Yoga has helped me this year with both my metal health and physical health. Yoga helps me come back to earth after long and busy days, De-stress and reminds me to just breathe and go with the flow. Yoga classes this year have brought me relaxation, comfort and happiness. Thank you 🙂

  2. Barbara Amalfitano

The first time I really experienced yoga was in Rene’s class and I credit him for sparking my interest in the practice. Little did I know that yoga would change my life, because it has transcended being a form of exercise for me. Practicing yoga has become my refuge, where the outside world melts away and I am able to gain a sense of peace and balance. In a way, yoga has become my addictive drug of choice. As my body moves in sync with my breath, somehow I enter a meditative state and I feel a deeper sense of focus and self-awareness. I honestly wish I found yoga earlier in my life.

I have been practicing yoga for almost 10 years. Rene is one of some awesome instructors I have met. His advice stay with me when I practice at home. His classes had changed the way I practice yoga, for the best. Really recommend a class with Rene. Thank you Rene.

  9. Candi Abeyta

My yoga journey has been integral in recovery from multiple health challenges. As we age, yoga “does it all”, strength, balance, flexibility, body confidence.
Rene is a superb instructor & an important part of my practice.

Yoga has helped me truly learn the meaning of “root to rise” in all ways – physically, mentally, emotionally, intellectually. It’s so important to start with your foundations/at the very beginning in order to facilitate growth in every aspect in life.

I really enjoy your classes, Rene. Thanks for the opportunity, and best of luck to all!

  12. Connie A Hernandez

I had knee replacement surgery August, 2022 and began taking chair yoga since January, 2023. Because of this practice, I am more flexible, more energetic, more optimistic, and enjoy an overall sense of well-being and positivity.
I love it and make it a priority in my daily routine!

  13. Lorena D

I love the way Rene teaches and explains each class. At the end of each class I feel better physically and mentally.

  14. Maxine Stone

I’ve been doing chair yoga for about a year with Rene, it has helped with my Fibromyalgia and reumatoid arthiritis. I go to his classes three times a week, I try to not miss his class.

  15. Lisa

Yoga with Rene helps me on a continuous basis. I go with eagerness to his Friday class at Copley at 11:20. However I’m feeling beforehand, I come out feeling rejuvenated, and lighter! I feel very grateful I get to be a student in this class. He articulates his intentions in a very clear way, makes you feel at ease, and most notably knows his stuff so that you get a great yoga practice!

  16. Judy

This class has encouraged me to sit, stand & walk taller. I’m stronger, more energized and feel more fit than I have in years. I’m grateful for the sense of well-being I get from this class experience. It has changed my life.

  17. Barbre

I have been doing yoga since it was prescribed for me after an automobile accident many, many years ago. Doing yoga is self serving in the most wonderful way and sharing it in class is very rewarding. And every time i take a class I wonder why I took so long to take another class.

  18. Madeline Haines

Yoga has helped me improve my relationship with exercise and my body! I feel more at one with myself.

  19. Jennifer

I returned to yoga in April after recuperating from several injuries. Once I got the hang of the poses again, I really tried to adopt what my instructors were saying during each class. I began to use my strength to hold poses instead of leverage. I am happy to say that my muscles are toned, responsive and strong! I no longer hurt! I look forward to each class and each opportunity to learn.

After I got the hang of the poses again, I really started to focus on what my teachers were saying and holding poses with my strength instead of leverage. 21. Valeria

Yoga has been a helpful way for me to ground myself and reconnect with my body, especially during hard times. I am especially thankful now for the opportunity to share moments of effort and awareness during in-person class, as most of my practice in the past has been at home by myself.

  22. Deborah

I love the chair yoga Rene leads at the Copley Y. I leave there in a very relaxed state almost as if I have meditate for an hour. Love it.

  23. Dana Wessel

Rene is a great yoga instructor. I always look forward to his classes.

  24. Kris Larsen

I have practiced various forms of yoga, on and off, for 30 years. What I love about Rene’s classes include his explanations of our body’s musculature and movements, constant reminders to help us improve our practice (“sit up nice and tall”, “press your feet”), and his sense of humor. I have hardly experienced laughter in other yoga classes…it’s wonderful!

  25. Ray

Throat cancer left me with a body I no longer recognized as my own. Just because treatments are over, recovery is not over and the effects of chemo and radiation continue to challenge the prospect of even getting back what use to be. Yoga has brought me back to a better former self, so much so that I feel better than I have in over 30 years! I have strength, endurance and more energy but the muscle tone is better than I can ever remember due to Renae’s teaching techniques that are powerful for all ages.

  26. Pasquale Piro

    Chair yoga suits my body.
You have a way to engage my whole body that helps me like no other form of exercise did.

  27. Kayt Campbell

After 10 years of cancer treatments I was essentially bed ridden. When I was able to get out of the house I joined the Y and discover chair yoga with Rene. As a result of participating in his classes I have regained some mobility, balance, strength and stamina. It has been gentle enough for me to participate in and strong enough for me to experience gains from doing it.

  28. Deborah Moore

I love this class! While I take other classes this yoga class gives me a full cardio body workout and the stretching I need.

  29. Barbara duBois

After years of thinking about doing Yoga and fearful I wouldn’t be able to get my body into those positions, a knee injury/arthritis plus a shoulder issue spurred me into major life style changes. I’m 3 mos into my journey of being whole food plant based eating and Yoga every day. I’m amazed at how good I feel. I’ve tried every Yoga the Y has to offer—Chair, Restorative, Yin, Vinyasa & Hatha. I practice Nidra Yoga at home every day. I believe your Chair Yoga the most beneficial for my shoulder and am committed to deepening my Yoga practice. 💜🙏🏽💜

I appreciate René’s clear instruction and the information he provides. I more actively engage in the yoga poses due to his instruction. I know my musculature better because of the information Renée provides. I carry over what I have learned from his classes into my daily life, and am healthier for it.

  32. Matthew kesner

Yoga with Rene has made my life better. I have moderate arthritis in both shoulders. While I am more flexible throughout my body since doing Yoga with Rene, my shoulders are less painful and I’m able to do more upper body tasks. Thank you Rene,

    Matt

  33. Ramona Konar

I broke my shoulder in February, 2023. I couldn’t do much other than physical therapy for a few months. I was so lucky that when I was able to return to yoga class, Rene’s monthly focus was on shoulders. I have been able to return to the strength and flexibility I had before my injury. This, in addition to the general feeling of well being that yoga provides in all parts of the body, has me convinced of its benefits, and I plan to keep it up for the rest of my days.

  34. Thee Schwab

Prior to Covid I practiced yoga for 5 years. I like the way it me a change to my mind and body. I found a place with like minded people. I now take chair yoga classes and I’m finding that same feeling of community and improved health.
